This film would NEVER EVER be made in America because it shows two people enjoying sex which is a big no-no in this culture and tightens the rectums of the censors.....especially if a cock is displayed and it is not in a humorous context. I love thise film but which it did not turn down a dark direction that it does about half way through. It is a strange and eccentric love story, but there were signs all along that this was not going to end happily. I have seen both the original and director's cut and prefer the original....it is slightly less grim.
